Vivek Express visiting Mangalore

The union Railway minister had flagged off the special train from Howrah, West Bengal on January 12 and it is expected to traverse over one lakh km across the country to reach back Howrah on January 2013, according to Expo Rail Co-ordinator Barua.

The six-coach, fully air-conditioned exhibition train houses rare photographs, write-ups, synopsis of the great works in philosophy and preaching of Swami Vivekananda. They are all lined up in a chronological order right from the childhood days of the monk.

The interesting one among them is a photograph of the Swami addressing the World Religions Meet held in Chicago, USA in September 1893. The establishment of Ramakrishna Mission here and Belur Mutt also figure among the exhibits.

The train will be in Mangalore City Central Railway Station from 5th to 7th August and public will be allowed to have a glimpse from 10 in the morning to 6 in the evening.

There will be an inaugural function at 9.00 am on the 5th August. MInisters from Government of Karnataka, Local MLAs, MPs and district officials along with students and welwisshers will be attending the function.
